The following year, Pallas traveled to the United States to create their most powerful and popular album- `The Sentinel.’ The album was produced by prog-veteran Eddie Offord (Yes, ELP) and was a conceptual piece that reflected the cold war between the Soviet Union and the United States using the lost continent of Atlantis as a theatrical backdrop. Final thought: Pallas make good use of change of volume throughout, using one of the simplest musical techniques to give great texture to the tracks, something that seems to me amazingly rare in popular music of any genre. A most excellent album, keeps my mind thinking I'm still 16 when in fact the decades have marched on!/5(32). Reply

Back in /80 Pallas wrote the song 'Hearth Attack' wich incidentally turned out to be the beginning of 'The Sentinel' concept according to Pallas in They had to wait till before it was released. Their first (live) album 'Arrive Alive' was a private release. It sold about copies, so EMI got interested in the band. Reply

Jul 13,  · Many fans consider "The Sentinel" to be the band's best album and the "Atlantis Suite" section of this album to be their crowning achievement. Indeed for a debut album this was quite impressive at the time. Listening to it again today after all these years, the material does sound very 80's - ish which definitely dates the album a bit/5(24). Reply
