Mar 23,  · Ofra Haza's death on February 23, , at the age of 41 deprived the world of a lovely woman, a great vocalist, and a fearless cultural advocate. Her album of boldly reimagined traditional Yemenite songs, brought her international fame, and decades later, it retains its ability to delight and inspire. Reply

Jul 02,  · Dedicated to the memory of Ofra Haza z"l. This is a beautiful Yemenite song performed by her and the great Aharon Amram at the Galbi and Dan Shilon show. I learned a lot of Yemenite Jewish songs from Aharon Amram's tapes and also his visits to my synagogue. The words of the song translated are: You stole my heart. You stole my soul. Reply

The album was recorded with both traditional and modern musical instruments; wooden and metal percussion, Yemenite tin and tambala, strings, brass and woodwind as well as drum machines and synthesizers. The songs are sung in Hebrew with a Yemenite . Reply

For the Yemenite songs Arab/Yemenite instrumentation is used, while the Israeli folk-songs are accompanied by classical euro-centric composition. This cd is a beautiful expression of not only Yemeni identity in Israel and Jewish identity in the Arab World, but the overall harmony that could exist between Arab and Jew.5/5(3). Reply
